When Apple launched a design competition calling for artists to transform the historic chimneys of Battersea Power Station into massive festive canvases, I knew I wanted to push past the usual holiday tropes.
I decided to plunge into an imaginative aquatic holiday scene—turning the classic Christmas tree into an underwater wonderland!
By taking the celebration beneath the waves, traditional festive elements took on a lively ocean twist, with tentacle tinsel, bubble baubles, and seaweed boughs!
Bringing this vision to life was a joy from start to finish. Balancing the nostalgic warmth of the Christmas season with detailed, whimsical linework allowed the illustration to feel both festive and unexpectedly fresh.
