Batterseaβs Undersea
Christmas Tree
Apple invited artists to transform the historic chimneys of Battersea Power Station into massive festive canvases, and I immediately knew I wanted to take a dive beneath the surface.
My illustration reimagines the classic Christmas tree as an underwater wonderlandβswapping out traditional decorations for a vibrant world of seaweed fronds, tentacle tinsel, bubble baubles, and playful sea life!

High above the branching reef,
A glowing starfish brings reliefβ
The shining crown upon the tree
That lights the dark and deep blue sea.
Kelp fronds twist in emerald folds
To form the tree the ocean holds,
While glowing tentacles entwine
Like playful tinsel on the pine.
Down from the surface with no sleigh,
Scuba Santa dives away,
Adjusting flippers, tank, and mask
To handle his aquatic tasks.
Mermaids join the cheerful swim,
To deck the boughs from base to rim,
Sharing laughter, joy, and cheer
In the seaβs most magical time of year.
With nimble coils, sea snakes and eels
Tie up the gifts with festive seals,
While a gingerbread man in a giant clam lies,
Turns into a pearl as a festive surprise.
